Renny Krupinski
Renny Krupinski is a British Equity
Registered Fight Director, award-winning actor and writer
as well as a director and teacher.
Born: In Essex and lived his formative years
in and around London. He has been resident now in the NW for
over twenty years.
Trained/Educated: Webber Douglas Academy
of Dramatic Art, qualified fencing coach, senior grade in
Iwama style Aikido.
Companies/Organisations: Theatre fights
include: Currently he has directed fights for Coriolanus and
Antony & Cleopatra at Shakespeare's Globe in London. 99%
of all fights for Royal Exchange Manchester over the past
seven years, all fights for Library Theatre Manchester over
the past 14 years. Birmingham Rep (including the now infamous
Behzti), Oldham Coliseum, Abbey Theatre Dublin; Lyric Belfast;
Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse; West Yorkshire Playhouse;
Basingstoke Haymarket ( now appallingy due to close); Live
Theatre, Newcastle-upon-Tyne; New Vic Stoke; Leicester Haymarket.
The Three Musketeers (Young Vic); Twelfth Night (RSC); Les
Miserables (1st UK tour, Germany, Belgium); The Postman Always
Rings Twice in London’s West End with Val Kilmer.
TV fights include: Love Lies Bleeding, Distant
Shores, Blue Murder, The Bill, City Central, Elidor, A&E,
Emmerdale, Brookside, Hollyoaks, Peak Practice and all the
violence for Coronation Street over the past five years.
Television acting includes: A Touch of Frost, The Marchioness
Disaster, The Falkland’s Play, Beech Is Back, City Central,
Elidor, Just Us, Silent Witness and the cult villain Sizzler
in Brookside.
Theatre acting includes: Salieri /AMADEUS
(twice), Capulet/ ROMEO & JULIET, Banquo/MACBETH, Launcelot
Gobbo/ THE MERCHANT OF VENICE. Arden/BARE national tour.
Directing includes: Romeo & Juliet, Bare,
Katie Crowder, The Comedy Of Errors, Titus Andronicus, Arabian
Nights & Lady Macbeth Rewrites The Rulebook.
Writing includes: Bare (Mobil Playwriting Award); D'Eon; Katie
Crowder; Lady Macbeth Rewrites The Rulebook; 3 years on The
Bill and many BBC Radio comedies.
Renny is also the voice and face of OBLIVION at Alton Towers.
Teaching includes: Master at arms at Manchester Metropolitan
University since 1993. Previously also at: Academia Contemporânea
Do Espectáculo, Porto, Portugal (1995 – 1998);
Arden School of Theatre (1993 - 2001); Liverpool theatre school
(2003). Guest workshops in Manchester; Atlantic College @
St. Donat's Castle, Wales; University of Mississippi; Gaeity
Theatre Dublin; Live theatre, Newcastle.
Career Highlights: Having my first script accepted for television,
playing Salieri in Amadeus, several Poker championship finals,
the British Monopoly Championships 1977 and , working with
so many extraordinary people and managing to still be here
after 30 years in the profession.
Personal: Last year Renny achieved a personal
ambition by riding single handed across the Gobi Desert on
a horse and spent the best part of a month living with nomads
in Mongolia. Life changing and wonderful in possibly one of
the last unspoilt Countries in the world. He has three children,
two with Fragile X Syndrome...much misunderstood and largely
unheard of. He supports the Fragile X Syndrome charity and
