Associate Programme
The Associate Programme has been running since September 1997 and is aimed at enthusiastic ballet students aged 10 – 16 who study ballet elsewhere and wish to maximise their potential in ballet technique. The course is a solid preparation for any full-time vocational training.

YOUTH DANCE ENGLAND
13 of Northern Ballet Theatre’s Intermediate and Senior Associates are to take part in the Youth Dance England Regional Platform on Saturday 18 March. Click here to read about it.

Girls Open Class
As from September 2006 our weekly open class will be held on a Monday evening during term-time and is for those aged 12+ who attend regular ballet classes and want to take an extra class. Interested students are invited to attend a trial session before being offered a place.

Further information on our Open class will be online later in 2006.

Youth Dance Programme – 100% and Ignite
Our Youth Dance Programme was launched in Spring 2004 and has proved very popular. Providing the opportunity for those who have never danced before, those who love dancing but have nowhere to go or those who just want to try out new things, classes are held on a Wednesday evening for 8 to 13 year olds.

Come Skank Wid Eye
Northern Ballet Theatre youth group ‘Ignite’ was among over 70 Leeds residents aged 11 and upward that came together for a spectacular dance theatre production based on the life and work of reggae musician Bob Marley, entitled ‘Come Skank Wid Eye’.

Yorkshire Young Dancers (YYD)
This scheme, in partnership with the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, offers talented young dancers who are interested in a career in dance the chance to train in either classical ballet or contemporary dance without the need to move away from the region.

Easter Course 2007: Dance for your Life
Northern Ballet Theatre in association with Theatre Company Blah Blah Blah
Monday 2 – Thursday 5 April

This year Northern Ballet’s Easter Course (2007) will be delivered in association with Theatre Company Blah Blah Blah. It will offer you the unique opportunity to work with professional artist from both company’s to improve your dance and theatre skills through technical classes and creative work. Join the bull-leapers on their journey of survival:

Lesson one; don’t be scared of the bull. Lesson two; never take your eye off the bull. Lesson three; dance with the bull. Lesson four; learn to love the bull or he will kill you. Lesson five; stage a unique performance in front of friends and family.

Ages:
9 – 12 - for those with some previous experience in dance or theatre.
13 – 16 - for those with a few years experience in dance or theatre.

Times: 9:15 – 15:30

Cost: £65

International Summer School 23 July – 11 August 2007
This course is designed to strengthen and improve the young dancers classical, contemporary and jazz technique in a professional environment. The course is for students who are already in or who are hoping to go into full time dance training and the daily practical sessions are enhanced with theory classes designed to give the student a greater insight into the life of a training and professional dancer.

Intermediate 2- 14 - 16 years- 23 – 28 July
Senior- 15/16 – 19 years- 30 July – 11 August

Accommodation
This is a non-residential course, however Northern Ballet Theatre can recommend accommodation.

Entrance onto the course is via audition and students will be placed on to a course suitable to their age and experience. Please see page 6 of the leaflet for more information regarding auditions.

Audition
Sunday 11 March- Preliminary auditions for combined Associate & summer applicants
Sunday 25 March: Summer only applicants

NB- students aged 16+ who are currently in full time training do not need to audition for the course. Please complete and return the application form by the closing date to ensure you secure your place.
