May Update

Welcome to the homepage of NBT’s Learning and Access department.

The ‘Dancition’ Festival which took place on the 16th April at Park Lane High School was a huge success and everyone involved in the project thoroughly enjoyed the evening.  Representatives from the project sponsor HBOS watched as the 4 primary schools and 1 secondary school performed the dance pieces that they had devised over the Spring term, ranging from a sports inspired piece to an alien invasion!  Following the success of the event, we are delighted that HBOS will be sponsoring another project in the area in the Autumn.   For more information and images from the project, [click here]

This month, Dance Education Officer Caroline Burn will be inspiring students at 6 Primary Schools in Cheshire with workshops based on NBT’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  The workshops, in partnership with Cheshire County Council, aim to engage the students with dance and give them an opportunity to take part in arts activities with a professional company.  The students will also see a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at The Palace Theatre in Manchester.

Our work in venues across the country also continues as we visit Sheffield, Manchester, Milton Keynes and Llandudno.  As well as leading workshops in local schools, we will be holding Get Closer events at theatres. The events, such as Ballet Explored, Pre-performance talks, touch-tours and audio described performances provide a unique insight into the Company and the production to enhance your theatre visit. If you are interested in being involved with the any of our projects or would like to book a schools workshop please contact us on 0113 2745355. [Information for Schools Booklet]
