Darren Goldsmith waits backstage in London

A Grand Day Out

During Northern Ballet Theatre's performances of Peter Pan at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford, the Airedale & Wharfedale Federation of Townswomen Guild paid a special visit to an afternoon performance which included a behind the scenes look at the company in action.

The day began with coffee and a warm welcome from NBT's Head of Development Charlotte Weightman and Friends and Events Manager Judith Baker, before watching the dancers take their daily class on stage. After which the Townswomen met pianist Richard Kenwood-Herriot who talked to them about Stephen Warbeck's music for Peter Pan and Charlotte Weightman who described how the costumes for the show were created.

The group enjoyed a private lunch in the God's Bar with plenty of time to relax before the matinee performance of Peter Pan.

Margaret Edward-Smith, Drama and Music Chair of the Airedale & Wharfedale Federation of Townswomen Guild said:

We had a brilliant day! What made it so great was that it wasn't just a day out, it was interactive and we were given something to think about. I think that Charlotte and Judith have to be paid tribute to here – they were fantastic hosts, very sociable and keen to make it a great day. They talked to everyone and told us more about the company and the productions – it was wonderful.
