THE INDEPENDENT
"Audiences are lapping it up...Nixon presents the plot
deftly...plunging you back into the atmosphere of old-fashioned
childhood stroytelling.....Ollivier (The Prince) is gorgeous
enough to set any feminine heart fluttering, tall, dark and
dressed in glowing, elegant white.
Takahashi's costume (The Beast) makes
him suitably misshapen and repellent, but he dances a treat,
with strong, clear passages of classical virtuosity....several
satisfying effects..moments of vividly articulated humour."
THE DAILY TELEGRAPH
"..a family fairytale show...I take my hat off to NBT
( a company I am normally beastly about).....an ingenious
assemblage of Bizet, Debussy, Dukas, Massenet and two organ
concertos....The high springing Hironao Takahashi gave a good
Beast and the corps de ballet looked grateful and graceful
in pleasingly formal wedding grand pas."
YORKSHIRE EVENING POST
A thing of rare beauty
"In probably the most extravagantly
romantic production you'll see this Christmas, Northern Ballet
Theatre has captured all the season's magic and bottled it
for release in a shower of shimmering champagne bubbles.....classic
fairytale of the power of true love is delivered with transporting
enchantment and all the grace, drama and humour we have come
to expect from this remarkable company....breathtaking dance
from Charlotte Talbot as Beauty, Hironao Takahashi as her
Beast and Jonathan Ollivier, the handsome prince...."
